Course Overview

Kick-start a passion with Fire Tech’s Senior Maker STEAM Club, featuring creative mini-projects, design challenges and technology tips perfect for igniting kids’ curiosity about the world of digital technology.

Students will discover how to make music soundtracks, put together digital storybooks and take great photos – all the while leveling up computer skills, problem-solving and innovative thinking. No A+ artistry required – just bring along a curiosity for trying new things and having fun!

STEAM = Science + Mathematics + Engineering + Arts [Application] + Mathematics 


North Cottesloe Primary School – Senior Maker Term 3 2019:

Ages: Years 5 – 6
Time: 3.30 PM – 4.30 PM
Duration: Thursdays for 8 Weeks 
Start Date: 1st August (2nd week of school, Term 3)
Prerequisite: only open to North Cottesloe Primary School students

Gear: All equipment provided. BYO after-school snacks and hat.

What students will learn

This club covers content including:

Week 1-2 – Mobile App Design (Appshed)

Week 3-4 – Video Game Design (Construct)

Week 5-6 – Digital Music (Soundcamp)

Weeks 7-8 – Video Making (Powtoon) 

Firetech STEAM Clubs
This club is run as part of Firetech’s after-school STEAM series, where students have the opportunity to be inspired in an environment full of exciting hands-on projects, expert tutors and like-minded students.

Classes are designed to ignite and fuel a passion for learning and explore a variety of creative and technical skills in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM).

No prior experience is required but there are some prerequisites for attending this course:

  • Must be between age 10 and 12 at start of course
  • Basic IT skills
  • Bring your own lunch
